McKenzie Roberts

Name: McKenzie Roberts
Year: Junior
Major/Minor: Biology/Chemistry
Hometown: Sevierville, TN

Why did you choose Belmont?
After visiting with multiple students and Admissions counselors at a BU2U event in Knoxville, my family and I knew this university is where I belonged. Each student truly cared about my future, and I felt the strong community environment by being with him or her for a couple of hours.

Why did you choose to be a Tour Guide?
Being a native of the tourist-centered hometown of Sevierville, I have been a tour guide my whole life. Being a tour guide at Belmont allows me to bring a piece of home to my experience as well as show other high school students why I love this school.

What is your favorite on-campus event?
The Homecoming tailgate is my favorite event held on campus during the school year. I love seeing all of the different student organizations promote the Bruins and come together to support the university as a whole.

What is your favorite movie?
My favorite movie is Grease. I’ve always loved that time period, and my mom and I watched it almost every day as a child. I have even memorized the intro and credits.

What is your favorite song & artist/band?
My favorite song is The Wop. As a true dancer at heart, it is the one song that energizes me and makes me want to dance in front of crowd of strangers.
On the other hand, I stick to my southern roots when it comes to my favorite artist. Sam Hunt is a great mix of genuine lyrics and pop country.

What would you want to be your last meal on earth?
I would choose to have Hibachi chicken and fried rice with some Yum Yum sauce.

What is your favorite Nashville experience?
Being a seat-filler at the CMA Awards wins the prize. After racing to Bridgestone after Genetics lab to wait in line for a couple of hours, receiving a free ticket put me on cloud nine.

What is your dream career after graduating from Belmont?
My dream career is being a Physician’s Assistant in Pediatric Dermatology.

What is your favorite class that you have taken at Belmont and why?
As a Biology major, my favorite class was Microbiology. I was able to understand the real reason our immune system gets low and learned many methods of determining types of bacteria. I even was able to swab some places on campus and distinguish the different types of bacteria from others.

If you could go back in time and give advice about college to 16-17 year old you, what would you say?
I would tell myself that college gives you the resources to find out how you work best in all domains. Be patient as you enter college and know that there will be some changes to make you the best you that you can be.
