Belmont students are encouraged to enhance their learning experience by spending a semester or a year abroad in an intensive language or interdisciplinary program. Belmont is a member of the Cooperative Center for Study Abroad, which allows our students access to study programs in Australia, Barbados, Belize, England,Ghana, Ireland, Kenya, Scotland and Singapore.
In service learning courses, students get their minds and hands around the material by applying it to the real world. It is important to note that service learning goes beyond volunteer work.Through the combination of reading and instruction, deep reflection, and application, you'll benefit just as much as the community you serve. In the process, you'll see theory and practice come together in a way that will make your learning meaningful to you and to others.
The Peer Tutoring Program provides students the opportunity to serve as a link between the professor and students in the class.

National Science Foundation Research Experiences for Undergradutes
Every summer, the NSF sponsors several sites across the country at which undergraduate students perform research with faculty of the host schools. Participants are paid a stipend and often provide room and board for the approximately eight-week programs. Belmont students have in the past had very successful experiences in this program. REU sites exist in all areas of science. The NSF maintains a list of REU sites, sorted by area.
